This policy explains what cookies we use on racys.co.uk, what each one does, and how to change your mind. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Some are needed for the site to work at all. Others help us understand how the site is being used, so we can improve it.
We also use the word “cookies” here to cover similar technologies, such as information stored locally by your browser.
Your choice
When you first visit, a banner asks what you are happy with.
- Necessary cookies are always on. Without them the site cannot work, our forms cannot be protected from abuse, and we cannot remember your cookie choice.
- Analytics cookies are off until you turn them on. Nothing analytical runs before you agree.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the consent link on the site. Withdrawing takes effect immediately for anything set afterwards.
We do not run advertising on this site and we do not use cookies to target ads at you. Our session-recording tool is the exception worth knowing about: Microsoft sets a few cookies of its own through it, and it uses some of those for advertising on its own services. They are listed below, and none of them run until you accept.

Analytics, only with your consent

Google Analytics tells us things like how many people visited, which pages they read and roughly where in the world they were. It does not tell us your name. We have configured it to work with Google Consent Mode, so when you decline analytics, Google is told not to store anything on your device.
Session recording, only with your consent
We use Microsoft Clarity to see how pages are actually used: where people scroll, what they click, and where a layout confuses them. Clarity records a playback of the visit and produces heatmaps. It is off until you accept analytics cookies.
We use this to fix the website, not to identify you. Clarity masks text you type into forms by default, so what you enter in the contact form is not captured. Microsoft is the other controller of this data and uses it under its own terms.

Our contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a form is being filled in by a person rather than a script. It is what sets cf_clearance above. It does not track you across websites and does not profile you.
Stored by your browser rather than as cookies
These are not cookies, but they are information kept on your device, so we list them for the same reason.

If you log in
If you have an account on the site, WordPress sets additional cookies to keep you signed in and remember your dashboard settings. These apply to site administrators, not to ordinary visitors.
